American Educator Panels

The American Educator Panels (AEP) are the only three standing nationally representative samples of educators in the U.S. who regularly provide their feedback on important issues of educational policy and practice. The panels consist of over 25,000 teachers in the American Teacher Panel (ATP), 8,000 principals in the American School Leader Panel (ASLP), and 1,000 districts in the American School District Panel (ASDP).

  • In spring 2022, 86% of K–12 school principals reported that they did not have enough substitute teachers, and 54% reported that they regularly do not have enough teaching staff to cover their classrooms. See full report
  • 30% of elementary school principals reported no curriculum requirements for social studies for the 2021–22 school year; only 2% of elementary principals said the same for English language arts and math. See full report
